Every Thursday | 4.30-6pm (30th Apr-18th June)

We've been very fortunate to receive Lottery funding to run these FREE weekly workshops for children.

Do you know a young person passionate about fashion and theatre but they perhaps lack the sewing skills to bring their creations to life?? Then, these are sessions are for them!

These sessions combine theatre skills with costume design and construction, with an environmental focus on repurposing textiles, and working towards a final showcase taking place next spring!

Children will be able to explore their creative side with expressive arts and textile reuse at its heart.

What to expect:

  • Beginner-friendly sewing sessions to learn how to sew
  • Suitable for all levels of experience
  • All materials provided
  • Each session will be working towards the final showcase next spring!

This is the FIRST term out of four. In the first two terms, the sessions will be more beginner-focused to make sure everyone has the sewing skills to participate in creating costumes for the final showcase.

In terms 3 and 4, we will be partnering with Creative Spark Theatre Arts to develop the play and final showcase with their expert help. These last two terms will allow for our new beginners to join with our more established costume and dressmakers.

But this first term is focused on building the sewing skills that will mean a bigger and better showcase where more children can participate!

We want to make sure our younger and more inexperienced stitchers have the opportunity to play an active part in the Stitch the Gap final showcase taking place next spring!!

If you are one of our experienced costume/dressmaking kids and want to be involved, please please join our Youth Board as we NEED YOU to shape the classes and the showcase to what YOU would like to see!

Booking is essential.

We will ask parents/guardians to complete a contact form before the class (the link for this is contained within the confirmation email).
